7 Essential Rules Of Street Style Fashionista

Street style fashionistas

I am fashion-addicted. I love to watch fashion shows and I do follow a good deal of fashion trends. But there is another thing that turns me on even more – I enjoy observing how people adapt hi-end trends to everyday life. I often wonder how a woman manages to create her personal street style, which, in its turn, often becomes a podium trend. I guess all these things seem to make a fashion cycle that improves to no end.

I like watching fashion shows’ guests. They – women and men – are often related to fashion business and they are both on-trend and in-style. How did they manage to combine different clothing collections and completely different price ranges in a way so that we call them street style fashionistas and fashionistos?

Is it possible to learn how to dress up to look cool and holy chic? Is there a tool to master the subtitles of a style?

I might have missed some details, but I dare hope that if you stick to these seven rules, you’ll sooner or later will gain a reputation  of a street fashionista with a personal or rather inborn style.

Street style rule # 1: Less is More

If you’ve read my profile on Google+ you might know that I live in Ukraine, and in my mother tongue the phrase Less is More phonemically sounds like Forest is Sea. Here designers often use the phrase just for fun, but meaning just the same – nothing could be worse than to include all statement and bright pieces into one outfit. It’s always better to put on a basic piece of your wardrobe (say, a white shirt) with on-the-edge-of-fashion one (an asymmetric A-silhouette skirt)  .

(This season opt for an A-silhouette skirt made of denim, suede or / and with a fringe)

Street style rule # 2: Accessorize This

It’s not only devil that hides in the details, but also style. Why so? – I have no idea, but it’s just the fact.

Statement Shoes

Your outfit may be as common as a corner of a house i.e., some jeans, shirt and a jacket, while the purpose you are wearing this jacket is to justify a reckless investment you did at another day. But! If you add to your set a pair of statement shoes, your look can alter beyond recognition.

Pick any shoes you like – from flats to high-heeled stilettos, but, when shopping for them, do your best to get a pair with some fleur about it. If it is just comfy Converse, you’d better buy them in red, green or Marsala color to get a statement shoes out of them.

Look at nude sandals. Like any other shoes in the color similar to the color of your skin, they work for elongation of your legs. Needless to say that in such invisible sandals your legs will cause a wow-effect.

I fancy Shala Monroque’s self-assured eccentricity. She knows how to choose speaking accessories. Oh, well, bunnies are usually mute. Yet, the bunny-bag speaks for both of them itself.

Street Style Rule # 3: God Bless This Mess (c)

I’ve been wondering for quite a lot time how came that all this immutable mess became a trend.

Messy & charming

Messy & charming

In my opinion such messy hairstyles as if you’ve been having a long sleepless night or have been standing in the wind for a couple of hours suggest the idea that, like in this ad, Intel is Inside. As if being busy with some project – one of numerous projects your your life is full of – you can’t care less about this lousy hairdo. Yes, you might have had a sleepless night or have been staying outside of a cozy apartment for something that is important to you.

It is exactly as I’ve described, is it not?:)

Anyway, never tell people you’ve spent an nearly an hour on your hairdo. It’s none of their concern.

Street Style Rule # 4: Lay a Stress

E.g, wear some loose silk trousers with a print. Match them with something neutral, say, a white shirt or a tee (or, if you have a pear shape body type, wear a loose bright blouse with trousers in monochrome).

Street Style Rule # 5: Combine Incongruous!

Say, try on a leather jacket with a lace skirt, soldier boots and a parka with a chiffon dress, an H&M tee with an investment trousers, a polka dot blouse with a slouchy jeans and so on, the list is endless.

When you haven’t any slightest idea what to put on today, try on something with an animal print or with stripes. Kate Moss would recommend you to wear a leopard coat with a black outfit.

Street Style Rule # 6: Make Layers. Or rather MAKE LAYERS

Probably somebody would like to ask where to shop for clothes for a perfect street style look? Well, shop for perfect pieces elsewhere you can – in alpha stores with dominant names, small boutiques at a small Parisian street, at flea markets. If you are on holiday somewhere in Philippines or India, visit stores and country markets there – you’ll surely find a unique piece to include in your wardrobe.

Street Style Rule # 7: Make Mistakes!

When you know the rules you may try each of them out. Don’t be afraid of making mistakes! If you don’t wear too bright a makeup, do avoid loud colors and never nude most of your body, you have a good chance that people would take your mistake as a part of your personal style. They might even think that you show the best way of how to wear a full skirt / jeans / a sheer dress and so on.

Moreover, errāre hūmānum est. Moreover, sometimes mistakes even contribute to a look a spicy charm.
